Empirical Software Engineering
In his July Surfing the Net for Software Engineering Notes column, Mark Doernhoefer finds that while the "craftsman" view of computer programming approach sees the programmer as an artist who designs code on the basis of experience and design savvy, the empirical paradigm expects the programmer to act as a scientist, using analysis, measurements, results and conclusions. Mark visits academic, research network, corporate and other sites that can help you improve your development process. Check it out in Software Engineering Notes online.
