Software Engineering Educators Symposium
(SEES)

We invite participation in the 2012 Software Engineering Educators Symposium. SEES'12 will consist of two half-day tutorials covering approaches for teaching programming and software engineering to undergraduates. Some of the approaches are experimental while others have shown some success in recruitment and retention of women and minority students. Symposium participants will be provided access to instructional materials, receive practical tips on how to successfully apply the approaches, and learn about tools that support hands-on instruction and active learning.

Funding is available to help defray costs to attend SEES and FSE. Depending on the availability of funds and the number of applications received, awards will cover expenses for travel, hotel accommodations, and registration to both SEES and FSE.

Funding for travel awards is provided by a grant from the National Science Foundation and by ACM SIGSOFT. A purpose of the grant is to increase participation in computing by building relationships with computer science faculty at schools with populations of students that are members of underrepresented groups. We therefore encourage applications from faculty who teach at institutions whose student population is majority African American, Hispanic, Native American and women. Because funding for travel awards is provided by the US National Science Foundation, to be eligible for a travel award applicants must be teaching undergraduates at an institution of higher education in the United States or its territories.
